Port Townsend Writer's Loft Available for Your Own Writer's Retreat
Writers’ Workshoppe and Imprint Books now offers for rent, a large, light filled, romantic loft just a few blocks from the beach and the town. Whether you are attending one of our fabulous workshops, or want a solitary place to write, or need a base camp for exploring the Olympic Peninsula, the 'Loft on Madison' is the perfect place.
The loft is quiet and private, overlooking a beautiful garden. With a partial view of Admiralty Inlet, you can watch as ferries and sailboats move past. It's two blocks to Chetzemoka park and the beach and five blocks to Point Hudson Marina and downtown Port Townsend. Over the hill or via the beach is Fort Worden, home of the most beautiful beach in Washington State.
Four blocks to Aldrich’s market, Uptown Pub and Lanza's Restaurant, you can eat out or eat in, using the loft’s full kitchen to prepare romantic meals. Across the street from Aldrich’s, the best Farmer’s Market in Washington State appears, like Brigadoon, each Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM. Many more restaurants and shops (including Writers' Workshoppe and Imprint Books) are only five blocks away. .

Centrum's 2017 Spring YAWP
Spring YAWP (Your Alternative Writing Program) was initially launched as a reaction to the branding, marketing, and career networking of AWP. We desired to create, instead, a retreat where we could write in community, live in cozy cabins, and focus deeply on our work while being inspired by optional morning freewrites to get the juices flowing.
The first one sold out, as did did the second one. And the third one. YAWP is the perfect space for writers, with a blend of writing time, community time, and personal-retreat time. At each YAWP, we make breakthroughs in our work and connect with one another as writers–in the beautiful settings of Fort Worden State Park and Port Townsend.
YAWP is the purest elements of the Port Townsend Writers’ Conference distilled into a long immersive weekend (Thurs-through-Sun): reading, writing, and being on retreat. YAWP provides two optional generative-writing sessions per day, with the rest of the time to read, write, pursue your individual projects, go into town for the great restaurants/cafes, enjoy all that springtime at Fort Worden State Park has to offer, play whiffleball, sit in chairs and talk, and just be surrounded by the creative energy of many people pursuing their individual writing projects.
Registration is open for Spring YAWP. Limited to 20 people total.
Cost: $195. Have you published fifty novels? $195. Are you writing your first-ever poem? $195. Meals are not included: what happens is that some folks contribute together for communal meals; and some folks do their own meals in the ten kitchens provided; and some folks go into town for Port Townsend’s restaurants and cafes.
